Cowboy Ethics Character Education

Cowboy Ethics is a character education program based on a set of simple, timeless principles that make up the "Code of the West." The principles are based on how the heroic, courageous American Cowboy lived his life. Cowboy Ethics and the "Code of the West" were envisioned and composed into a book by Jim Owen. His message is that "we can all be heroes in our own lives." Colorado 4-H is bringing this message to youth through outreach programs that use games, activities, writing and discussion to help participants discover their own strengths and values.

In-School, After School & Community Enrichment

4-H projects can be used in a school setting or with after school programs or other community groups. If you are interested in bringing 4-H programming to your classroom or organization, contact us to let us know what project area you have in mind. Some areas include: nutrition, entrepreneurship, money management, knitting, leathercraft, outdoor adventure, horses, archery and STEM (science, technology, engineering and math). The curriculum can be used on a one time basis, or set up as a multi-visit program.
